1. Arrival and Conversation
Dr. Elliott will arrive during the scheduled time window and take a few moments to meet you, answer any questions, and ensure you feel comfortable with each step. You’ll be asked to sign a consent form before we begin. Many families choose a favorite spot in the house or yard for the procedure.
2. Gentle Sedation
To ensure your pet is relaxed and free from stress, we start with a small injection of a sedative and pain relief medication, usually given just under the skin. This allows your pet to slowly drift into a deep, peaceful sleep while you remain by their side, offering comfort and love.
3. Saying Goodbye
Once your pet is deeply asleep and unaware of their surroundings, the veterinarian will administer a final medication that allows them to pass.
4. Aftercare and Honoring Their Memory
You will be given as much time as you need afterwards. If you wish, we can help transport your pet for cremation. Alternatively, you may choose to keep them with you for a private burial. We’re here to support you with whatever feels right for your family.
We will transport your pet for cremation after the euthanasia service or you may choose to keep them with you for a private burial.
Please contact Dr. Elliott before scheduling an appointment if you have concerns about your pet's temperament or behavior around veterinarians or visitors in your home.
Dr. Elliott will advise you on the best course of action to ensure your pet has minimal stress and to keep them comfortable during this time.
Our goal is to provide a peaceful pet passing for your loved pet, but we also need to ensure the safety of both you and your family and the doctor.
We offer free cancellations if done prior to the appointment. We understand that determining the right time to euthanize your pet is hard and may depend on your pets day to day quality of life. If you need to cancel, please contact Dr. Elliott as soon as possible, so that we can possibly help another family in need.
If you decide to cancel after Dr. Elliott arrives at your home, there will be a $175 home visit/quality of life consultation fee applied.
